National Living Wage & National Minimum Wage
 
The National Living Wage (NLW), works alongside the National Minimum Wage (NMW) and is compulsory.
It works in much the same way as the NMW, but  only for employees who are aged 25 or over.
 
From 1st April 2019 the rate is £8.21 per hour.
National Minimum Wage hourly rates from1st April 2019 
 £7.70 the rate for workers aged 21-24   
 £6.15 the 18-20 rate   
 £4.35 the 16-17 rate   
 £3.90 apprentices under 19 or in first year
 
From 1st April 2018 the rate is £7.83 per hour.
National Minimum Wage hourly rates from1st April 2018 
 £7.38 the rate for workers aged 21-24   
 £5.90 the 18-20 rate   
 £4.20 the 16-17 rate   
 £3.30 apprentices under 19 or in first year
