Statutory payments 2019-20. 

Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP)

The weekly rate  increases to £148.68 with effect from Sunday 7th April 2019. To qualify for SMP, the employee must have average weekly earnings (AWE) of at least £116 if the baby is due on or before 20th July 2019 or £118 if the baby is due on or after 21st July 2019. 

Statutory Sick Pay (SSP)

The weekly rate increases to £94.25 from 6th April 2019. To be entitled to SSP for any periods of incapacity for work (PIW) commencing after 6th April 2018 (and which do not link to an earlier PIW) employees must have AWE of at leat £118

Employers will continue to be able to recover 92% of SMP and small employers will continue to recover 100% of SMP plus 3% compensation.

Auto-Enrolment trigger and thresholds 2019-20

The earnings trigger remains at £10,000 pa

The qualifying earnings (QE) lower limit increases to £6,136 (£6,032)

The qualifying earnings (QE) upper limit increases to £50,000 (£46,350)
